Getting to know each other before arrival

Prepare your week, share a reviewed version with a candidate and discuss what works for both of you.

A good start begins before arrival. Prepare together lets you create an introduction package for a candidate, even without an arrival date. Find it on Home and in the family menu.

Start with everyday life

Choose your stage: preparing, talking to a candidate, arrival soon or living together. This choice does not change your current au pair's dashboard or access. You can also prepare for a successor.

Write a welcome text, add a representative week with task blocks and free time, and cover five topics: specific tasks, house agreements, what you offer, practising together and free time. Start and end times belong to tasks. You do not need to set a personal wake-up time outside those tasks.

Write manually, load a fictional example or use existing information. Task times are copied without children's names, task notes or linked information. House rules and the existing welcome guide become editable copies. Check every text for private information and make descriptions specific.

Prepare the candidate’s language

The app supports Dutch and English. The shared document has a separate language choice: English, Dutch or Spanish, with English as the default. Prepare the candidate version before publishing Dutch source text for an English-speaking reader.

Save your selection and open Preview. With your consent, Anthropic translates the selected text. You can then compare and edit the source and translation side by side. Unselected text and photo files are not sent. Source changes make the translation need review again. If all selected text is already in the target language, you can confirm that instead.

Show your home and neighbourhood too

Add an address, a first look at the house and everyday routes. Explain the school bike ride and the station for a day off in the city. Only the explicitly selected overview is included. Read how home and surroundings works.

Review and publish

Select each text, topic and time block you want to share. Nothing is selected by default. Save your draft and open Preview for the mobile view of exactly that selection. Check that free time and your offers are clear too.

After your review, publish that version. Later edits stay in the draft. Existing candidate links keep pointing to their original publication. To share new expectations, publish a new version and create a new link. Previous responses are not carried forward.

You can download the selected content as PDF or Excel. Downloaded files cannot be revoked remotely. Use the existing calendar export for your internal schedule.

Share deliberately with one candidate

Create a separate link with a private label for each candidate. Choose an expiry of 1 to 30 days. The link is shown once; copy it to share it yourself. You can revoke a link later.

The candidate needs no account. Anyone with the link can view the package and view or change the responses on that link. The link does not verify an identity. Share it privately. Other candidate links have their own responses. The document labels follow its selected language.

For each topic, a candidate may voluntarily say what fits, what they would like to discuss or practise, or what does not fit. Asking only a question is fine too. No preference is selected by default. You can see the latest responses and previous changes; family members have no editor for candidate answers.

Opened, responded and this fits me mean different things. Opening does not prove that everything was read. There is no suitability score and the package is not a contract.

After your shared decision

Discuss open questions first. Then use the existing invitation in Settings to give the au pair access to your household. A candidate link and previous responses never grant access to the internal dashboard.
