FAQ
What are the standard au pair hour limits?
The default hour limits in the Netherlands are 30 hours per week and 8 hours per day. These are set automatically as soon as you create a household. Opairly currently targets Dutch au pair regulations. When hour tracking is enabled, Opairly shows visual warnings as the limits are approached.
Can I change the hour limits?
Yes. Go to Dashboard > Settings > Household, switch on Hour limits, and then adjust the weekly and daily limits for your situation. See Settings for more details.
How do invite codes work?
Each household has two invite codes: one for the au pair and one for additional family members. The role is automatically determined based on which code is used. Codes can be regenerated in Settings.
What export formats are available?
You can download weekly schedules and house rules as PDF or Excel. The PDF includes a signature block, useful for your au pair agency or IND application. See Export for more information.
Can both family and au pair complete tasks?
Au pairs mark tasks as completed on the dashboard. Family members see the progress but do not check tasks off. Only the family can create, edit, or delete tasks.
How does leave work?
Au pairs have 14 leave days per year. The au pair submits a request, and the family approves or declines it. See Leave Management for more details.
How does the trial period work?
After creating your account you get 30 days of free access to all features, no credit card required. After the trial you choose a subscription (monthly or yearly). See Subscription & Billing for more details.
Can I track expenses and receipts?
Yes. Au pairs can submit expenses with a photo of the receipt. The family reviews the claims and reimburses them, optionally with a Tikkie link. See Expenses for more information.
What are weekly check-ins?
An optional feature where the au pair answers three questions each week: what went well, what can be improved, and plans for next week. The family can add notes. See Weekly Check-ins.
How do I delete my account or export my data?
Go to Dashboard > Settings. At the bottom you'll find options to export your data as JSON or to delete your account. Deleting your own account permanently removes your personal data. If you're the household owner, this also deletes the entire household, including shared data such as tasks, hours and leave requests from other members.
Where is my data stored?
Opairly uses Supabase (hosted in the EU) for the database and authentication. Files like receipts are stored in secure Supabase Storage buckets. All traffic is encrypted via HTTPS.
What does an au pair actually cost?
The costs of an au pair consist of pocket money (legal maximum of €340 per month), room and board, insurance, any agency fees, and IND fees. Read our complete cost overview for an au pair in the Netherlands for all the amounts.
