Correction: the TB test date was wrong
The TB test date was wrong
The checklist for the first months showed a date for the tuberculosis test, calculated as three months after the arrival date. That is not the rule. The IND counts three months from the day the residence permit is issued, which is usually later than arrival.
If you went by that date, your deadline was earlier than the real one. Annoying, but not dangerous: early is the right side to be wrong on here.
That item no longer shows a calculated date, because we do not know it: the IND issues your permit, and that happens outside Opairly. It now states the rule instead, with a note that many nationalities are exempt and where to find that list. The TB test is the only obligation whose clock does not start on arrival; registering with the municipality and arranging health insurance still show a real date.
The AI welcome guide can no longer invent a date for it either.
Two help articles could not be opened
If you asked a question in the help chat and the answer pointed at "Introduction" or "FAQ", clicking it took you to the list of topics instead of the article. The link behind those two buttons pointed at an address that did not exist. We put it right. Other articles were unaffected.
Sign in with Google and shorter codes
Sign in with Google
The login and signup pages now have a Continue with Google button. Useful if you already live in Google: no code to type. It works in the browser and in the installed app on your phone. If you already have an account on the same email address, it is simply linked.
Shorter login code
The code you receive by email is now 6 digits instead of 8. Quicker to type, just as safe.
August 2026. Opairly officially launches
Opairly is officially launching. The app has been running stably for a while, and the past months brought improvements across the board. Here is what happened since May.
Faster and more stable
- Refreshed under the hood. The app now runs on the latest version of our framework, with shorter load times and snappier navigation.
- Blog, docs, and pricing load instantly. All information pages are pre-built and served at full speed.
Security first
- Thorough security review. We audited and hardened the database access rules and every integration. Your household's data is visible to your household only, exactly as it should be.
- Stricter checks on invites and forms. Extra protection against misuse of invite codes and public forms.
Accurate information
- Every figure verified. The amounts and rules in our blog and docs (pocket money, IND fees, income requirement) were checked against official sources and updated to the latest indexation.
- Better readability. Footer contrast and text size were improved for accessibility.
What's next
We keep building based on feedback. Something that could be better? Let us know via the feedback page in the dashboard.
Calendar with proportional task heights
A family asked for this and they were right. A 15-minute task is now small, a 1.5-hour dinner block is bigger, and a 3-hour evening out is bigger still. Between tasks there's whitespace, empty time looks empty.
What's new
- Proportional task heights: Like Google Calendar. You see the shape of the day at a glance, not just the count.
- Shared time axis: One hour rail on the left for the whole week, instead of repeating labels under every day header.
- Now indicator: A thin red line shows the current time on today's column.
- Overlapping tasks: Two tasks at the same time render side-by-side automatically.
- Untimed tasks: Tasks without a scheduled time now live in a small tray above the grid, so they don't disappear from view.
Does anything change about your tasks?
No. The underlying data is the same, only how it's shown. Hours summary, free days, child filter, PDF/Excel export: all work exactly as before.
April 7. Small Improvements
A couple of small improvements that make using Opairly a bit smoother.
What's improved
- Dark mode is back: The toggle to switch between light and dark theme had temporarily disappeared from the menu. It's back now.
- Better pin code input: When logging in or accepting an invite, the pin code field now only accepts numbers. No more confusion with letters or special characters.
April Update. Better Onboarding & New Features
We've made several improvements to make it easier to get started with Opairly and to help you share it with others.
What's new
- Simpler sign-up flow: We reduced the onboarding steps from five to three. Less clicking, faster setup.
- Redesigned homepage: The homepage is shorter and clearer, with a focus on what matters: managing your au pair household without the hassle.
- Contact page: You can now reach us directly through a contact page on the website.
- Referral program: Share your personal referral link from your dashboard and invite other host families. You'll find it on your home screen.
- Newsletter: Stay up to date with tips and product news by subscribing on the homepage.
- New blog posts: We published guides about au pair costs, au pair rules in the Netherlands, and our launch story.

- Improved analytics so we can better understand how people use the app.

Opairly v1.0. We're Live
This is the first release of Opairly, a simple tool to help host families and au pairs stay organized and on the same page.
Managing an au pair household involves a lot of moving parts: daily tasks, house rules, shared schedules, and time off. Most families cobble this together with WhatsApp messages and spreadsheets. We built something better.
What's in v1.0
- Task management: Create recurring tasks (daily, weekdays, or specific days) with categories like childcare, household, cooking, and education. Tasks are automatically generated each day based on your schedule.
- House rules: Write down your household expectations once. Start with 20 suggested templates or create your own. Both family and au pair can see them anytime.
- Time logging: Au pairs log their daily hours by category. Families see a simple weekly overview.
- Weekly calendar: View the entire week in a clear calendar overview with tasks per day.
- Household setup: Create your household, set your country and timezone, and invite your au pair with a simple link. Read more in the installation guide.
- Leave requests: Au pairs request time off, families approve or decline. Clear holiday tracking for everyone.
- Role-based access: Families manage tasks, rules, and settings. Au pairs view tasks, mark them complete, and log hours. Everyone sees what matters to them.
- Mobile-friendly: Works on any device. The dashboard has a bottom navigation on mobile and a full sidebar on desktop.
- PDF & Excel exports: Export your weekly schedule and house rules as PDF or Excel, ready to share with your au pair agency.
- Hour-limit tracking: Optional toggle for families who need Dutch au pair regulation tracking (30h/week, 8h/day limits with warnings and export-ready documents).
